“It's now been approx 10-years since our debut full-lenght album
“Spirits And August Light” was released and the world was waiting. The
latest 2011 album “New World Shadows” was a good breakthrough for us
and lots of good things happened after that record, so of course we
had some pressures to do a decent successor for that great record as
the world was waiting again.
Well, i think we managed on mastering that task and now we're back
again with the OG's 6th album called “Beyond”, the album that is
really going beyond all limits of melodic death metal from the winter
wonderland! The album follows the good known path of “New World
Shadows” and “The Redshift” but adds a lot of new flavours and spices
to the good ol' melting pot to lift the band to a new heights. It's
our most melodic and versatile album so far but at the same time it
still holds for example the most brutal death metal growls in our
career yet as also some really tasteful cleans vox between the lines.
I'm sure everyone who gives the album many spins can find something
new with every turn, so this should be a album that hold up the sands
of time and rewards the listeners who are digging deeper and searching
something more than just a one hit wonders of the day!
Lyrically told “Beyond” is about the culmination point of one's
existence. It is a coming home story where the mysteries of duality
are melted into oneness but without losing one single point of
individuality along the arrival. As you can see from the cover there's
also a strong sense of sea on the album, as we're the sons of the sea
from Kotka!”
24.09.2012 | NEW BASSPLAYER OFFICIALIZED!
We're glad to finally make it official and announce that OG is a real
6-piece troop again - we welcome Erkki Silvennoinen as a new bass
player to Omnium Gatherum. Erkki is a die-hard pro dude with a warm
nice attitude, just the way we like it, and we know him well from
sharing same stages than us since almost ten years ago. He used to
play in Amoral as well as in Finnish Idols winner Ari Koivunen's band
back in the day. At the moment he is also playing in awesome brutal
tech death metal band De Lirium's Order.
Here's what Erkki has to say about his new vocation:
"I'm very excited to join Omnium Gatherum. I already know most of the
guys from way back when I was playing warm-up gigs for them. I have
seen them grow and evolve into the tight unit they are today and hire
Jukka as their front-man, who also happens to be one of my best
friends. It's an honor to get to play with such talented musicians.
The previous bass players have left some big shoes to fill... I hope
they fit."
At the same time we say huge thanks to Eerik Purdon who was filling
the low-frequence spot almost one year as a session member on stage
and in studio - thanx mate and we owe you a big one!

Some new about the album #6; all the material is now ready & recorded
and the stuff is now in hands of Dan Swanö at Unisound Studio where
the mixing, mastering and magics happen! The raw stuff sounds
awesomely amazing already before the mixing, so we're pretty sure that
even mr. Swanö cannot ruin this anymore! :)

21.07.2012 | OG @ STUDIO RECORDING THE 6th ALBUM!
The 6th album studio sessions have already started secretly in silence and are flowing together really nice an' easy!
The drumming madness of Jarmo "Kammm" Pikka was already caught on tape at Nordic Audio Labs studio in Vaasa by engineer Sami Koivisto (Amorphis, Sotajumala etc.). Now we are in the middle of other recordings at Teemu Aalto Productions & OmG studio in Kotka, where the recordings are made with our trusted man Teemu Aalto. The mixing & mastering will be done again by Dan Swanö at Unisound studio - so expect nothing more but the best!
Joonas Koto will be making his OG album debut on this album with his awesome flawless action-Jackson guitar skills, so the guitar duo Vanhala / Koto is on fire here like never before! The bass parts will be played by Eerik Purdon, the legendary man behind the bass lines of "The Redshift".
We've done a huge amount of pre-production for the album in the shadows, during the gig break on the first half of this year and all we can say is….sounding astoundingly gooooood! The new album will surely continue from where "New World Shadows" left but there'll be also some stylistic echoes from the "The Redshift" past as also lots of new spices and flavours. The next chapter of Adult Oriented Death Metal that is...
The tentative release date for the album is set to February '13!
07.07.2012 | SCANDINAVIAN DATES CANCELLED / STUDIOTIME GETTING NEAR!
OG is very sorry about the cancelled Scandinavian shows this week with Children of Bodom and lack of information on them in advance. But even we ourselves got the info about cancelling 1-hour before our stage time and we already travelled to Norway and were ready to rock.
As many of you might have red, the reason for this was that Alexi from CoB was very ill and in hospital and because of contractual reasons we couldn't play there without the headliner. We hope all the best for Alexi on recovering and getting well soon and hope to re-schedule the Scandinavian dates as soon as possible. Thanks for CoB & crew for being really nice and for the good hospitality.
Next week we'll be locking ourselves to the studio and begin the recordings of a 6th Omnium Gatherum full-lenght album! More info, updates and hopefully all kinds of studio diary and goofing will be updated soon here and even more to our facebook/twitter! So stay tuned!

OG is pleased to announce some upcoming live action as a support act for Children Of Bodom on their Scandinavian dates of their "15 years of wasted youth" -anniversary tour in July '12!

OG have decided to go separate ways with our bass player of the last three years, Toni Mäki. The decision was made already some time ago after our latest European tour "Neckbreakers Ball" and it wasn't an easy one.
Some of you might have noticed that the old OG Redshifter bass master Eerik Purdon has been already playing a few gigs with us during the past months. Eerik is filling the now vacant low-frequency spot and is helping us out on the upcoming gigs, rehearsals and recordings - thanks dude!
The real thing is that the bass player spot is actually now vacant. So, if you have what it takes, feel free to contact us (ogatherum@gmail.com) and manifest that you're the best man for the OG low-frequency department and the meanest dude for the meanest machine! …And we'll see where it goes.
Btw. the new album stuff is almost composed and ready, so soon it's a studiotime again!
03.02.2012 | 2011 RECAP - NEW STUFF BREEDING!
We want to thank you all who supported us during the year 2011 - this was really the best year for OmG-crew so far & we had a blast everywhere we went!
The "New World Shadows" album has been gathering a massive dose of extremely good & positive feedback all around the globe among the medias and fans. The 1st spot on the Finnish indie Rumba album chart and the 5th spot on the official Finnish album chart were something we didn't expect to happen, but it somehow did! We've been also very happy to notice that the "New World Shadows" has gotten attention in huge amount of "best albums of the year 2011" lists among the medias and metal fans! For example a big US webzine Blistering.com ranked us to be THE album of the year and Scandinavia's biggest metal magazine Inferno ranked us for the Finnish top-5!
We toured extensively the whole 2011; two widescale European tours, two Finnish tours, 7 festivals and played in 18 countries - you all ruled & we salute ya all!
Now it's time to slow down a lil' bit, catch our breath and start to work with new OmG stuff for the next release. There's already a big bunch of song skeletons ready an' willing in the hard disk and we've been already bashing some songs on our rehearsal cave during the x-mas "holidays". It seems that we still have something awesome to deliver for all of you!
Though, we played a one-off show last month in Helsinki at Circus venue as a support for Arch Enemy, so be there as there's not gonna be so many shows nearby.

Next weeks Friday it´s finally time to kick off the NECKBREAKERS BALL tour in Munich which will then make its way through Europe for almost one month! Before it starts, here's a lil' hello & tour statement from the OG camp:
"Ok Dudes and Dudettes, it's time to conclude this years festival summer and previous tours and start to prepare for the upcoming, amazing NECKBREAKERS BALL tour! Things have been good to us. Since the release of our latest album "NEW WORLD SHADOWS" we've played some great shows an' tours and had lots of fun! Good times...
Now we were taking a few weeks to catch our breath before heading out once more in the company of our old friends DARK TRANQUILLITY and other great bands. This is going to be the biggest tour we've done so far so we're pretty excited and anxious to hit the stages again, play some hell of a shows, go bonkers after the gig, lose some precious few brain cells at the process and hopefully make some new fans and friends on the way. Everything comes with a price, though. What we're NOT looking forward to is the daily hangovers, countless kilometers in the nightliner, eating mostly junk food, totally wrecking our mental and physical health etc. but that's something YOU don't need to know about... :)
So kudos to all the bands we've played with, to all the festivals and venues we've played at and a special shout out to everyone who came to see us live and has supported us! We hope to see you on the road, you know where to find us in October / November..."

FINNISH TOUR STARTING THIS WEEK
The OmG festival season is now over and we really had a blast during
this summer! A big thank you to all the fans, promoters & local crews
and especially our own beloved crew that made this summer so special
for us.
Next in line - after these two looong weekends at home - it's time to
start the Finnish tour this week. The trek called "Vuoroin Vieraissa
tour 2011" will be bashing 12 Finnish cities as a co-headlining tour

JOONAS KOTO OFFICIALLY JOINS OG
Joonas "Jope" Koto officially joins Omnium Gatherum as a new guitarist and backing clean vocalist, so OG is a twin guitar squad again and what's even better is that now we have Jackson guitar tour de force on both sides of the stage! He have been playing already a big bunch of gigs with OG as session live member as the previous guitarist Harri Pikka left the band over a year ago, and Jope was even filling up
Harri in some gigs even before we separated ways with him.
Jope have been Markus' partner in crime in a progressive metal band Malpractice for many years by now, so he was the first, the most natural and the only candidate for the job for us and gladly we got
him on board! He has been playing and recording previously in To/Die/For and Hateframe too, so he is a hard core professional dude.
Joonas' statement: "After two years as a session guitarist the guys finally asked me to join OG and I didn't hesitate one second! From the get-go I have felt like part of a family. The guys are very great as
persons and professional as musicians. I'm very happy and proud to be a part of such a great band of brothers."

THE TOUR AFTERGLOW!
We're now back home after our first European Tour in support of the
new album "New World Shadows" and having a few weeks off before the
summer festivals. We enjoyed every minute of the tour and we were glad
to play lots of new countries where we've never toured before, such as
Romania, Bulgaria, Bosnia, Croatia, Poland, Hungary, Slovenia and
Switzerland - U rule, we had a blast and we'll return for sure!
We wanna thank all the nice an' cool people we met on the road,
especially the hard working Massive Music touring crew (Darek, Oscar,
Vacek, Kuba and the drivers!) and all the bands played on the dates;

The "New World Shadows" album is now released everywhere in Europe, US release will follow at the 1st of March.
OmG is also happy to announce the first Finnish festival for summer - Sauna Open Air in Tampere at 9th of June, playing among with quite nice bands suchs as Ozzy, Judas Priest, Helloween, Saxon etc.!

EUROPEAN TOUR w/ ROTTING CHRIST
We're happy to announce the first European tour in support of the "New World Shadows" album - OG will be teaming up as a direct support for the legendary greek metallers Rotting Christ for European tour in April/May, more live action for the international field in the works also.
